There are many strange things in the Antarctic, and the giant space hamster is probably the strangest. This white-furred rodent is the size of an elephant seal, but much quicker in its movements. Nobody is entirely certain where they come from or what these allegedly herbivorous creatures eat on the glacier. They are not very bright, but they are very active. Fortunately, they are not predatory, have no interest in the penguins’ eggs and do not even compete for the same resources, though they often seem to have mystical agendas which bring them in contact with penguin colonies.
Juhana Pettersson’s roleplaying game Ikuisuuden laakso has been published in English translation by Vagrant Workshop. The game was translated by Iisakki Hormia and is called Valley of Eternity.

Lastenroolipeliprojektin julkistus

Ennen oli saatavilla suomenkielisiä fantasiaroolipelejä, jotka oli suunnattu ensikertalaisille. Kokonainen sukupolvi aloitti ropettamaan punalaatikko-D&D:llä. Nyt aloittamaan pääsee vain, jos ymmärtää puhelinluettelon oloisen englanninkielisen sääntökirjan. Mike Pohjolan tavoitteena on Ropeconissa 2013 julkaistava crowdfundingilla rahoitettu suomenkielinen 6-12-vuotiaille suunnattu pöytäroolipeli, jossa on paljon siistiä seikkailumeininkiä, ja joka innostaa uuden sukupolven roolipelaamaan. Tietoa projektista, avunpyyntö ja crowdfunding-kampanjan avaus Ropeconissa. Tervetuloa mukaan!

Pohjoismaista larppia käsittelevä artikkelikokoelma States of Play: Nordic Larp Around the World julkaistiin keväällä Solmukohdassa. Esitelmässä puhutaan kirjasta ja käydään läpi siinä esiintyviä uusia, hienoja tai kummallisia ideoita. Onko pohjoismainen larppi siirtynyt pois Pohjoismaista? Millaisia ovat venäläiset musikaalilarpit? Onko D&D sama asia kuin amerikkalainen unelma?
Yksi julkaisemamme Unelma Keltaisesta kuninkaasta -kokoelman peleistä, Memoratorio, järjestetään Helsingissä 15.6. osana kuukausittaisia Playdays-peli-iltoja. Asiasta voi lukea lisää täältä.
Memoratorium on tanskalaisten Monica Hjort Traxlin ja Morten Greis Petersenin palkittu peli muistinmenetyspotilaista. Osallistujat pelaavat Memoratorium-hoitohuoneeseen hoitoon tulevia potilaita, jotka kärsivät kirjallisesta synestesiasta: nähdessään tekstin he näkevät siinä tekstin kuvaaman asian. Hoidossa potilaat etsivät tekstejä välineenä käyttäen muistonsa ja identiteettinsä. Osallistujat siis tulevat peliin valmistautumatta mitenkään, tyhjinä sivuina ja ovat poistuessaan luoneet pelaamansa potilaan muistoineen ja elämäntarinoineen.

PRS publishes the book for the Solmukohta conference of 2012. A collection of articles about larp and roleplaying games, it will soon be available as a PDF for free, and as a physical book after the official publication event on the 11th of April. The book is edited by Juhana Pettersson.
